OSL and Eurostop partner to deliver end-to-end merchandise management system

  • New solution will integrate retail and wholesale supply chains to provide ‘single view’ of production and sales
  • Enables wholesalers and retailers to improve planning, inventory cost and management

Option Systems Limited (OSL), a provider in the provision of IT solutions for the apparel and footwear industries, recently announced a partnership with Eurostop, a supplier of retail systems to the fashion, footwear and general merchandise sectors. Under the agreement, the two companies will develop and deliver an end-to-end merchandise management solution that provides a single view of the entire production and retail cycle – from design and manufacture, through to distribution, branch replenishment and stock flow.

Wholesalers and retailers are increasingly working closer together to streamline operations and logistics, to ensure they optimize sales and service. The new solution will address this by enabling them to integrate retail and wholesale supply chains to improve planning, production costs and inventory management. It brings together Option Systems’ specialist STYLEman ERP solution and Eurostop’s Windows Retail Management Information System (WinRMIS) and WinPOS that includes specialist business intelligence, reporting, price management, stock tracking, customer loyalty and gift accounts.

“Our joint initiative clearly shows the value of collaboration between wholesale and retail specialists, and demonstrates how two complementary technologies can be successfully integrated to offer a business solution for wholesalers and retailers,” said Richard Loh, Eurostop’s Managing Director. “Together, we were able to quickly develop a distinctive new solution based on our respective areas of expertise, which provides a single system to manage wholesale and retail operations. In today’s competitive climate, these organizations need better insight into planning, replenishment and stock management to ensure they can rapidly react to market trends and changes.”

Tony Parkinson, Managing Director, Option Systems Ltd commented: “Our STYLEman product suite already provides organisations with unparalleled industry functionality thanks to its powerful information management system that enables wholesalers to model actual workflow and real-time decision-making. Now, thanks to the added retail expertise offered by Eurostop, we are able to develop a comprehensive, end-to-end solution, where users need only implement a single system to access and control both retail and wholesale operations.”

Designed from the outset to meet the specialist needs of apparel and footwear producers, the STYLEman suite delivers a complete set of solutions for the entire business, from product development through to shipping. With added integration into Eurostop’s WinRMIS solution, this comprehensive solution will now extend from concept to consumer. • Move follows strong sales
  • Recent orders include Hunter Rubber company, Oxford Industries and 1927

Option Systems Limited (OSL), a leading global specialist in the provision of IT solutions for the apparel and footwear industries, has moved to new headquarters to support its continuing growth. A number of recent high-profile orders from organisations such as the Hunter Rubber Company, Oxford Industries and 1927 have resulted in OSL increasing its customer base and the move to new premises will play a key role in supporting this expanding client network.

OSL’s new headquarters in Leicester will ensure that the company has the resources to provide support and sales assistance to both its existing and future customers across the UK.

“More and more wholesalers, distributors and retailers are looking for ways to improve their business processes, which has resulted in an increased demand for both Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PRM) software,” commented Tony Parkinson, Managing Director at OSL. “We experienced a significant upturn in sales during late 2004 and early 2005. In recognition of this we took the decision to move to new premises.

“The recent launch of our STYLEman PLM solution, coupled with the ongoing success of our STYLEman ERP system, means that there is a definite requirement for us to develop as a company to be able to meet the ever evolving needs of our customers. The new premises will give us the increased flexibility we require to not only meet, but exceed the requirements set by our clients both now and in the future.”

STYLEman, from OSL, is the leading enterprise solution developed specifically for clothing and footwear companies. With unparalleled industry functionality and completely web enabled, STYLEman allows organisations to maximise the potential of their operations by simplifying processes, and effortlessly delivering the operational and management information they require. The new STYLEman PLM system is a powerful, web-based collaborative range lifecycle management application that goes beyond traditional Product Data Management (PDM). Oxford Industries adopts STYLEman PLM for true Product Lifecycle Management capability

  • STYLEman PLM to oversee Oxford Industries’ Product Development Process
  • Option Systems Limited solution chosen ahead of established PLM application suppliers

Options Systems Limited (OSL), a leading global specialist in the provision of IT solutions for apparel companies, has announced a major order from Oxford Industries for its Product Lifecycle Management solution, STYLEman PLM. Oxford is a leading US producer and distributor of branded and private label apparel whose brands include Ben Sherman, Tommy Bahama, Indigo Palms, Island Soft, Ely and Walker and Oxford Golf. OSL will provide Oxford Industries with an initial 120 user license of the STYLEman PLM solution for the first implementation which will involve the four divisions that make up Oxford’s Menswear Group. In total, this would represent more than 15,000 unique styles per year. STYLEman PLM goes beyond traditional Product Data Management (PDM) solutions to ensure that Oxford Industries will always have the control and visibility necessary to plan, develop and manage its entire range of products at any given time.

STYLEman PLM replaces Oxford Industries’ incumbent PDM systems – a well-known commercial package, an “in house” developed solution and the customary office products – and offers unrivalled control over its clothing ranges all the way from initial sketches through to production for real-time range revision. Unlike many other PDM systems available on the market STYLEman PLM has been specifically designed with the needs of the apparel and footwear industry in mind and the fact that it is Internet-based means that users can have access to the system anywhere in the world via a standard web browser.

“We needed to replace and improve our existing PDM applications and evaluated all the leading solutions in the market before choosing Options Systems,” commented John Baumgartner, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Oxford Industries. “There is no question on our part that we selected the best product and we greatly appreciate the manner in which OSL conducted the evaluation and accompanying negotiations. We look forward to a long and meaningful relationship.”

“This order from Oxford Industries is another significant step for Option Systems and comes on the back of a number of exciting orders from other leading apparel companies such as Hunter Rubber Company and Profile Bodywear in the last quarter. We are finding real traction in the marketplace and have become a de facto alternative to the established competition in the PDM arena, complementing our position in the ERP area,” concluded Tony Parkinson.

STYLEman PLM’s workflow engine features a powerful range calendar that drives production around key dates such as shows, meetings, exhibitions and first deliveries. STYLEman PLM then uses these key dates to build events in the range cycle that need to be tracked – these can be varied by product type, country of origin, and the specific individuals, groups and suppliers that own each action. STYLEman PLM’s workflow engine then tasks the people responsible, if necessary reminding them of imminent activities and alerting development management.

STYLEman PLM also acknowledges that ranges never stay the same and that, as development progresses, new styles may be added, revised versions created and some dropped. With STYLEman PLM, range developers can view their style mix graphically and structure their range by style attributes to progress towards an optimum style/colour/size balance.

STYLEman PLM takes full advantage of STYLEman’s flexibility, with a browser-based architecture that means it runs equally well on Mac, PC or Linux clients, it can be accessed from anywhere in the world, is available in a range of different languages, and can be integrated easily with third party ERP, CAD and merchandise systems for true end-to-end supply chain management.
